The establishment of this Wildflower Walk is the joint project of the Bolton Conservation Trust and the Bolton Garden Club. Begun in the fall of 1981, the trail now has about 150 labels including wildflowers (four species of orchids), at least 18 varieties of ferns and some shrubs. Though the majority of work is done, the maintenance is ongoing. The nature of the land includes streamside, woodland open field and wet meadow habitats, as well as unusual plants of the limestone areas. We hope you will visit the trail at different seasons in order to experience the peak periods of bloom of the many varieties of plants this lovely trail has to offer.

After a short illness, Bob Horton died at the inappropriate age of fifty two. As a member of the Bolton Conservation Trust, Bob had played an important role in the acquisition by the town of the Quarry-Lime Kiln property, now reserved under the care of t the town Conservation Commission. The Trust, with full support of Bob's family, has developed this trail to enhance and interpret the fauna, flora, geological and cultural features of this area which he had labored to preserve.
